Species: Southern White Rhinoceros
Integrating natural history, the unique individuals, and exhibit design allows us to create a list of desired behaviors:
- Locomotion –walk, gallop
- Self maintenance –wallow, dust bathe, rub, scratch against objects
- Foraging
- Horn use – rub, break of branches
These behaviors may be encouraged through permanent exhibit structures, rotating items, social opportunities, interactions with keepers and more.
